It’s been 5 years since my doctor told me I was overweight. Since then, I’ve lost around 25 pounds of fat and built 15 pounds of muscle. It’s been a long and satisfying road. I feel and look better now than I have at any other point in my life. For me the “secret” was learning to be systematic in following a moderate diet.
The biggest challenge is organizing my shopping and cooking schedule so I always have the right food ready when it’s time to eat. It sounds simple, but in order to stay on a structured diet for the long haul it is essential to build a repertoire of recipes that all meet nutrition objectives without getting bored. My aim with this column is to share my diet plan, recipes, and thought process behind them so you can build a system that works for you.
